Swimmer Workshop

24th September 2017

Over 20 of our County squad swimmer's attended an informative and practical workshop run by Dan Morgan at the Stadium yesterday. Looking at physical and psychological preperation out of the pool and stroke and race technique in it the session was deemed a real success with all attendees.

Dan will be confirming the date and time of his next workshop (hopefully next month) and the squads who can attend shortly.

Many thanks to Dan for all the hard work he has put in to get the workshop up and running and thanks too to Deb and judge Tina for their help poolside.

New technical officials needed!

23rd September 2017

If white is your colour and you're keen to help out our club, then we have a great opportunity coming up! On Friday 13th October we will be running the first course on the road to becoming a Judge Level 1. This mainly focuses on the role of the timekeeper and hopefully we should be able to actually get you assessed on the night as well. A strong team of technical officials and volunteers are vital to the club since without these then competitions are simply unable to run. This is really important for our own licensed Club Championships where we have to be self sufficient and able to satisfy the terms of our license by having enough qualified officials on the pool deck. The course will be at Stoke Mandeville Stadium and run between 7-9pm. If you're interested, then please register your interest by clicking on the link. https://goo.gl/forms/eelXtZ9w6vk9vhuH3

18th September 2017

Well our annual kick off meet was the biggest ever and our swimmers once again demonstrated some great skills and huge improvements. It was an ideal opportunity for all our swimmers to put down some markers for the rest of the season and compete in some events for the first time. Overall we claimed 193 medals (66 gold, 69 silver and 58 bronze) and set over 300 personal best times! Well done to Zac for clean sweeping the 13/14 boys club records in the 50, 100 and 200 fly.

We finished as runners up again in the team event - perhaps next year!

Many thanks to Vicki, Mark, Lily, Sian and Libby for their invaluable help poolside and all our great officials and helpers who once again demonstrate how these events should be run.

Results are now on the results page.

Junior League - 5th overall

11th September 2017

Our young swimmers did a great job on Saturday to finish 5th overall in division 2 of the Milton Keynes Junior League. Despite our team losing out on a number of points due to a last minute rule change we came away from the gala on Saturday with some superb performances. What was great to see was how much our youngest swimmers had progressed since the last round - particularly in the diving department Laughing

Many thanks to Lily, Heather, Libby, Dan, Kerry and Ellen for all their help poolside with the team - particularly after I had to shoot off. Well done to Crusaders for hosting the gala in an away pool, supported by our officials Tanya, Dave and Jo.

Results are in the results page. Relay splits will be added if they were recorded.

Workshop for Swimmers

14th August 2017

As we all know our sport can be very demanding in terms of both time and effort. Dan Morgan has designed a workshop for swimmers which aims to educate them on how best to manage this time and maximise swimming performance as well as provide further practical race support on improving technique, starts and turns. In the workshop he will look at effective target setting and skill development along with some simple techniques which, if practised and implemented, will enhance your swimming. It will also offer valuable insights on how to manage your time across all aspects of life supporting a healthy balance between education, other sports and swimming.

The first "free" workshop will be for the County Age Group and County Transition Squads and will be held at the Stadium on 23 September between 3 and 5.45. Spaces are limited to 24 swimmers and will be on a first come first served basis. Email invites will be sent out shortly from Swim Manager or you can email Dan (danielmorgan20@hotmail.com) to reserve your space.

Details of the further workshops for the other squads will be confirmed shortly.

Swimming hats

21st July 2017

We will be placing a bulk order for named (and unnamed swimming hats) shortly. If you would like a named hat please place an order online before Sunday 13th August. This will ensure that everyone who wants one will have them in time for the new season, and certainly in time for our next big meet, BBATT.
Orders can be placed here - http://copperfieldsclothing.com/swimming-hat-261-p.asp

Wycombe Open Meet

17th July 2017

Our final competition of the season was at Wycombe in what is proving to be a great opportunity to compete in a long course meet, lay down some quick times, win some medals and make the odd final. Hopefully we can get a few more swimmers at this meet next year.

With 24 swimmers competing we amassed 37 medals (7 gold, 17 silver and 13 bronze) and over 80 personal best times.

Our gold age group medalists were; Kianna, Oli Clegg (2), Max and Libby (2).

Our silver age group medalists were; Aidan (2), Grace Gibson (3), Kianna (2), Libby, Mya (4), Oli (2), Tom Moslin (2) and Will Annat

Our bronze medalists were; Grace (2), Jessica Creasy, Kianna (2), Libby, Mya, Oli, Tom and Will.

Further congratulations to Oli, Max and Mya for making junior finals with Max picking up a bronze in the 100m breaststroke. In the senior age group, Libby, Grace and Tom made finals where Grace took a bronze in the 50 free and Libby won gold in the 100 fly.

Many thanks to Vicki, Mark and Alastair for their help poolside. The results are on the results page. Swimmers PBs will be updated when the official results are published.

BBATT Meet - 16/17 September 2017 - Aqua Vale

7th July 2017

A reminder that the entry to our annual BBATT meet is open for entries via Swim Manager. This is a closed meet with clubs from Bourne End, Barramundi (Didcot), Aylesbury, Thame and for the first time Tring.

We look to get as many swimmers to enter as it is a great opportunity to get some times in at the start of the season, see how they compare to last year and aim to improve on them throughout the season. At the meet last year over 200 personal best times were set along with 85 county qualifying times.

It is also a good opportunity to win some medals - last year we won over 200 between us - and as a club we can try and win the team award (which we have yet to win!).

So get those entries in before the summer holidays.

MKJL Round 2

1st July 2017

Well our young swimmers really did swim beyond expectations to grab 3rd place on the night. With many of our regular swimmers unavailable we had a number of swimmers competing for the club for the first time and they all did a brilliant job. Special mention goes to our youngest swimmers; Chloe Hard, Olivia Portlock, Ella Stewart, Ellis Bunce, Robert King, Freddie Mackintosh and Charles Raines with many having to also have to swim up an age too in the relays. Ella was called on to swim in seven races in her first gala - it's not normally that tough - honest! We also had two wins on the night from Noah and Oliver Coxon.

Many thanks to the captains Lilly, Grace, Libby and Dan and Heather and Kerry for their help with the team and to all our fantastic officials and volunteers for another well run gala,

The final round is on 9 September - keep the date free!

Full results are on the results page.

Training Timetable Changes - Effective 1 September 2017

27th June 2017

We were informed a few months ago that our current booking with the Grammar School on a Monday and Tuesday evening was being given to a Learn to Swim franchise. Following several communications with the operators of the Grammar School, we have reached a compromise agreement with them on what pooltime we can have access to and we can now confirm the following.

The Monday evening session (6.30 - 7.30) will continue as is until autumn 2018 at which point the session is expected to move to 7.15 -8.15. Further details of this change will be made next year and nearer the time.

Effective from 1 September 2017, the Tuesday evening sessions (6.15-7.05 and 7.05-7.55) will be replaced with a single session (7.15-8.15) for the Development Squad only. In order to make up some of the time lost on the Tuesday, the Friday evening session at the Stadium for the County Age and County Transition squads will start at 6.30 pm instead of 7.00pm and the session will last for 90 minutes.

The revised timetable can be viewed here.

We will continue to look for more pool time in the local area to supplement our schedule. However, as we found when Halton closed at the end of last year, this is in no way an easy task!

If you have any question please do not hesitate to contact Andy.

Maxwell Open Meet

25th June 2017

Another great meet at the Aqua Vale where we witnessed over 150 personal bests, 93 medals (37 gold, 26 silver and 30 bronze) and 7 club records (Dan x2, Harry, Oli, Lilly, Emily Blissett and Sian). We had a number of swimmers who qualified for the skins through the 200m IM. Well done to Jessica Creasy (7th), Emily Cheetham (4th), Libby (3rd), Charlotte (2nd), Sian (1st) and Dan Riddick (6th). We also saw Dan Riddick break the 60 second mark for 100 FC for the first time. Finally well done to Ben Birkwood and Alexander Funnell on making their open meet debuts.

19th June 2017

Congratulations to Kerry, Kate and Deryn on their superb performances at the British Masters Long Course Championships in Aberdeen. Several PBs (all) , several county records (Deryn/Kerry), a gold medal (Kerry) and bronze (Kate) - not a bad weekend at all!

Home Trophy Gala win

17th June 2017

Well it went to the wire but a couple of back to back wins in the last few races ensured we retained our shield with a narrow victory over a superb team from Wycombe. In what is always a great event filled with close racing our team of swimmers battled for every point. With two teams we had over 60 swimmers involved and for the first time, with licensing, any relevant times can be used for county qualification. Well done to all of our swimmers, whether you were blue or yellow on the night we are all one team and if we win we win together. Special mention to Connie King who stepped in in the 11th hour and made her mark in her first gala with some really fast swimming.

Many thanks to Mark, Vicki, Lilly, Grace and Sian for all their help poolside and once again huge thanks to our fantastic team of officials and volunteers for making the event possible.

Results are now on the results page.

Milton Keynes Junior League - Round 1

3rd June 2017

Many congratulations to all our young swimmers, finishing 4th on the night in the first round of the junior league. Many thanks to Lilly, Libby, Dan and Kerry for their help poolside and to all our officials and volunteers who made sure we could all make it back home in time for the final of BGT!

Results are on the website.

SE Regionals 2017

28th May 2017

We returned to Crawley for the final weekend of the SE Regional Junior Championships and another great couple of days swimming by our young athletes. Seizing the opportunity in their Regional debuts, Jessica Creasy set LC PBs in both the 100 and 200 breaststoke and Zac Arnold improved his PB in the 100 fly to climb the rankings. Oli Clegg and Emily Cheetham both swam superbly on their way to LC PBs in the 100 fly and 100 breaststroke respectively to also climb the rankings. Izzy Carroll, despite an injured knee improved her ranking in the 200 breaststroke and set an impressive LC PB in the 100m event. Last but not least, Josh Childs ended his program with a superb PB in the 100 backstroke where he made reserve for the final and also set LC PBs in the 50 Free and 100 fly.

Well done to all our swimmers, in what has been a memorable Regional campaign and I hope to see even more of our swimmers competing next year.

Leighton Buzzard Open Meet

18th May 2017

On Sunday 14 May 23 swimmers competed in the Leighton Buzzard Open Meet. In what is always a great competition for gaining a few medals and setting some best times, our swimmers didn't disappoint. We came away with 27 Medals (14 Gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze) and 42 PBs. Well done to everyone who took part.

Many thanks to Dan and Sian for managing the team on the day, the first they have done solo and a great job too by all accounts.

SE Regionals 2017

14th May 2017

It was the time for our Junior swimmers to take to the pool this time in the SE Regionals, with Josh, Aidan, Oli and Emily Cheetham all making their championship debut. Josh held his own in the 50 Back and 50 fly with swims just outside his PB. Both Aidan and Emily also had solid swims in the 50 fly and breaststroke respectively. Oli and Izzy set PBs to improve their rankings to make a reserve for the 50 fly and breaststroke finals respectively. Well done one and all. We return to Crawley in two weeks time to do it all again.

Important news about Monthly Fees

3rd May 2017

Over the last year, all the pools that ADSC uses have significantly increased their hire charges.

We have managed to avoid any increases to our Fees and Memebership for the last 5 years but because of these increased hire costs, we have made the difficult decision to increase the monthly squad training fees from June 2017.

The new monthly squad fees will be:

Learn to Swim £27.00

Junior 1 £27.00

Junior 2 £29.50

Development £30.00

Club Yellow £28.00

Club Blue £32.50

County Transition £36.00

County Age Group £40.00

County Youth £31.00

County Youth + £37.50

Masters 1 £31.50

Masters 2 £18.50

The new annual fees for university swimmers will be £65.00

The new monthly payment total will appear on your account page on Swim Manager by 8th May.

What you need to do

  • Edit the amount of your Regular Payment(s) on Swim Manager (After 8th May)
  • Change the amount of your Standing Order from June
  • Please ensure your Regular Payment is made on 5th of each month - this makes it easier for us to reconcile these payments.

I am sure you understand our need to make this change so the club can cover its costs but if you have any questions, please contact our Chairman, Simon Barber - chairman@adsc.org.uk

Thank you.

SE Regional Championships - 15 & Over

1st May 2017

Well the three days of swimming at the Youth Championships brought a mixed bag of results from our six swimmers at Wycombe. Emily Sampson, in her first championships, excelled with two LC PBs and two finals in the 100 and 200 breaststroke where she finished 6th and 8th respectively. Libby, was reserve in three finals with LC PBs in her 100 fly, 200 breaststroke and 200 IM. Emily B. was just off PB in her two fly events. Charlotte and Sian both made the final of the 200 IM, finishing 7th and 8th respectively. Sian also set LC PBs in two of her other events. Dan, despite struggling with a hip injury, set LC PBs in several of his swims and made the final of the 50 backstroke where he placed 7th. Final thought goes to Mya who unfortunately couldn't compete due to illness.

Well done one and all. We move to Crawley in two weeks time for the Junior championships.
