Qualifying Swimmers for British Champs and SE Regionals

17th March 2020

With everything moving so quickly at the moment it is difficult to keep up with the pace of change. I know yesterday's announcement from British Swimming, Swim England and the South East Region has resulted in bitter disappointment for many of our swimmers.

Whether you were looking forward to compete in your first British Championships or reach a final or win medals at the SE Regionals, it is so very frustrating that you now do not get the opportunity to realise the reward of your hard work and exceptional performance.

Please take pride in what you have achieved to qualify for these competitions. Remember what you did to get there and relive those special moments on the journey. Nobody can take those away from you.

Stay strong and hungry and ready to make more special memories when the opportunity comes along again soon.

Congratulations to Chenai for being selected by the County to be part of their 2020 Training Camp following her performances in this year's championships.

Chiltern League Round 1

22nd February 2020

Well done to all our swimmers who represented the club in the first round of the Chiltern League. We came 5th on the night but this was not a reflection of the great racing from our swimmers who set 28 PBs, with several going faster than the NFT and so not scoring points. From my perspective I am happy to finish with no points if it has meant everyone has swam PBs!

Many thanks to Gary and Tanya for refereeing the gala and to all the Aylesbury officials for once again showing how things should be done. Thanks also to Vicki, Becky, Josh, Jess, Harry and Emily for their help poolside.

County Championships 2020 - First Main Weekend

9th February 2020

The first main weekend was the chance for our sprinters to show what they were made of and they didn't disappoint with 20 finals and a further 4 top 8 finishes.

A more detailed report will follow in due course but to pick out a few highlights...

Congratulations to Hannah Bolton, Megan Johnson and Chenai Mofolo for competing in individual events for the first time. Chenai grabbed her opportunity in the 50 back to make the final to finish 7th.

We had a string of 4th places from Oli Clegg in the 100 fly and 100 back, Jess in the 100 breast, Charlotte in the 200 IM and 100 free (in a sub 59) , Ellis in the 200 fly, Dan in the 100 back, Sian in the 50 back and Sian, Millie B, Elle and Charlotte in the 4 x 50 free relay in a new club record.

Elle grabbed bronze in the open 100 breast final in a new club record where she was joined by team mates Charlotte (5th), Sian (6th) and Libby (7th), ensuring Aylesbury made up half of the finalists. Demonstrating our strength in this event, Amber and Millie Jones both placed 7th in their respective age groups.

In the open 50 free final Dan placed 7th and Joe 8th. In the 50 fly final Leilani placed 7th in the 15 year age group and Charlotte 8th in the open. Harry also grabbed 6th in the final of the 16 year 100 back final.

We also had our junior girl's (Millie B, Jess, Sophie and Ilana) grab 8th in the 4 x 50 free and Millie B took 8th in the 15 years 200 back.

But the stand out performance came from Mille Brindle in the 50 back where she became the first Aylesbury swimmer to break 30 seconds to win gold in the 15 year age group final in a time that secured her the title of County Junior Champion and County senior runner-up. Well done Millie from everyone at ADSC.

County Championships 2020 - Day Three

26th January 2020

Day three of the County Championships comprised the 400m events at the Aqua Vale. In the 400IM, Jessica swam a PB to finish 5th with Millie Jones finishing in 7th in the same age group. Leilani swam a PB to finish 12th, Zac's time was also a personal best to finish 9th and Ellis, struggling with illness was just off his best to finish in 10th.

In the 400 free, Charlotte, as she does, swam hard from the start to lead the event for 300m only to be caught in the final length and pipped to finish 4th overall and 3rd in the open age group with an impressive new club record. Jessica, Sophie and Emily all swam superbly to record big PBs finishing 9th, 23rd and 24th in their respective age groups. Oli Clegg, like Ellis, was also unfortunate to be suffering from illness to finish in 21st with Ellis 17th in their respective age groups. Zac put in another strong performance to swim another PB to finish 14th.

All the results can be viewed on the ONB website here

County Championships 2020 - Day Two

18th January 2020

Day 2 of the County Championships kicked off with the 800m. Sophie Francis-Baker took 25 seconds off her PB to finish and Emily Curtis took 5 seconds off her PB to improve on their rankings to 40th and 53rd respectively and Jessica swam 10 seconds faster than her previous County best to put in another solid performance to finish 32nd.

In the girls' age group relays all of our 4 teams improved on 6 out of 8 of their entry times. In the 12&U age group Megan was joined by debutants Chenai, Emma Thompson and Katie Duggan with all swimming faster than their best times and both Chenai and Megan setting PBs in their lead off legs. In our other 12&U relay team all swimmers were swimming in the championships for the first time with Zahra joined by Olivia Hemming, Abigail Johnson and Frances Starsmore (one of the youngest in the competition), Zahra set a PB on her lead off backstroke leg and all other swimmers set best times in the medley relay.

In the 13/14 age group we also had a number of swimmers competing in the Championships for the first time; Phoebe Hillyard, Ffion and Kiersten were joined by the more experienced Hannah , Stephanie, Amber, Reya and Lucy.  Phoebe and Hannah both set PBs on their lead legs of the medley and freestyle relays and Lucy was only 2 one hundredths away from breaking the 30 second barrier with a fine anchor leg to secure a top 8 finish.

County Championships 2020 - Day one

11th January 2020

With 2020 only a few weeks old the first day of the County Championships is always a great kick start to the new year. First up was the 1500m. Lucy Thompson, in her first Counties, took over 5 seconds off her best time to finish 29th overall. Zac was a little off the pace he set in the Autumn to finish in 18th.

Next came the age group boys relays and swimming in their first Championships; Carl Harder, Seb Brown and Louis Zientek was joined by County veteran Charles Raines who ensured the team got off to a great start. In both relays they went faster than their entry time to improve their ranking with Carl going over 4 seconds faster than his best 50 fly time and Seb breaking 39 seconds for the first time.

In the 13/14 age group, Ewan Ward was making his County debut and joined Tom Poole, Nathaniel and Noah to go faster than their entry times with Tom setting  PB in the lead off 50 back leg. In the A team, Sam Clark, Ellis, Max Waller and Charlie Starsmore improved on their entry times in both relays.

Relay results can be viewed here.

Arthur Blake Memorial Trophy - retained

21st December 2019

Well it was great to finish the year on a high with a superb victory in our home relay gala ahead of teams from Leighton Buzzard and Dunstable. Well done to all of our swimmers - we are all winners on the night regardless of whether you were blue, yellow or green! Many thanks to Ellen, Vicky and Lily for their help poolside and all of our officials and helpers for ensuring the gala ran so smoothly. All of the results will be published shortly.

National Arena League - Round 3

15th December 2019

The third gala of this year's Arena League saw us battling relegation and everyone knew that every point mattered and it's fair to say that the swimmers did us proud! On the night we secured 8 first places, all from the girls' team: Charlotte - Open 200m IM, Millie - 15U 100m back, Elle - Open 100m breaststroke, Jess - 15U 100m breaststroke, as well as the 15U and Open girls winning both of their relays. The team also saw 14 personal best across the gala, including right into the final set of relays. Additionally we had two club records, for Charlotte in the 200 IM and the 15U girls 4 x 50m freestyle relay! Unfortunately, this did not prove enough as, after an very tight gala - including where we were joint first at one point - we finished in 8th overall, but only 9 points off of 5th. This will mean back to Division two next year. Congratulations to all swimmers and a huge thank you to all of our volunteers and officials who hosted the gala. A special thanks goes to Mark, Ellen and Emily for looking after the team throughout the evening. Results are on the results page.

Maxwell Open Meet

1st December 2019

In the last meet of the County Qualification period we had 30 swimmers looking to try and improve their seasons times and gain a county qualifying time in the process. Well done Noah and Sam who set their first qualifying times of the season. Overall 45 medals were won and 52 person best times set. Particularly pleasing was some outstanding swimming in the 200 and 400 events. Many thanks to Mark and Ellen for their support poolside and to our great team of officials led by Gary and Simon who supported the Maxwell team to ensure the meet ran smoothly. The results are on the results page.

Club Championships 2019 Day 2

24th November 2019

Well the impressive swimming continued in our second day of the club championships with another 256 Personal Bests including more club records from Millie Brindle (age 13/14 50 back and 50 free) and Millie's time for the 50 back was also an all time club record. Many thanks to all of our Officials and volunteers who ensured the competition ran so smoothly. Results, including the age group points, are on the results page.

Club Championships Day 1

17th November 2019

Well done to everyone who competed in the Club Championships today, particularly those competing for the first time. Some were even completing 25m for the first time! There was some really great racing and overall there were 247 Personal Bests including 3 club records from Zac (boys 15/16 200IM) and Millie (girls 13/14 100 bk) which was also an all time record. Results are now on the results page. Same again next week. Remember you need to sign in before warm-up starts at 12.45pm otherwise you may not be able to take part on the day.

Distance Time Trials

10th November 2019

Well done to our small but select team who took part in the distance time trials at Aqua Vale. Despite the slightly warmer than favourable water temperature we still came away with 7 personal bests, several of which should be good enough to make the Counties. We also had two club records from Lucy Thompson in the 13/14 1500m and Zac in the 15/16 boys 1500m.

National Arena League - Round 2

10th November 2019

It was another tough evening for the team in the second round of the arena league in Eltham although there were several bright spots. Millie took victory in the 15/u backstroke and she joined her team mates Jessica, Leilani and Ilana to help the team them to a fine win. Our younger swimmers also put in some good performances; Katie and Charles both set personal bests in their events and Abigail had a great leg in the freestyle relay in her debut in this competition. Finally Sam Clark also set a personal best in his 100 back. The final round of the competition is now 14 December (not 7 December as on the fixtures list) and a week later due to the Short Course Nationals. Further details and the results will follow shortly.

SE Regional Short Course Championships - Portsmouth

3rd November 2019

Congratulations to all of our eight swimmers who competed at this year's SE Regional Short Course Championships in Portsmouth. Over the weekend Dan was reserve for the 100 back and in his favourite event, 100 IM, he just missed the medals to finish 4th. Elle swam a superb PB to just miss the club record and finished as first reserve for the 100 breast final and 7th overall in the junior category. Libby, competing in 9 events over the weekend, was setting season's best times in most events with the 100 IM being the pick of the bunch where she finished as a reserve for the final. Charlotte was also putting a string of fine performances together with her best swim coming in the 200 breast and a top 20 finish. Lilly set a season's best in the 200 back in her best performance of the weekend and Tom was on point in his two sprints. In their first Short Course Regionals, Jessica was in the top 30 of the juniors in each of her 3 swims and Josh came 20th in the junior age group in the 50 backstroke.

British and English Summer Nationals

3rd August 2019

The season ends for all clubs across the country with the British and National Summer Championships (English, Scottish and Welsh).

Elle, in her first British Championships in Glasgow swam well in the 50m Breaststroke to finish 14th overall. She then went on to the English Championships in Sheffield to compete in the 100m breaststroke where she set a personal best to make the final and then improved it again to grab a superb silver in a time that would have been 8th in the final in the British Championships.

Dan was also at Sheffield in his specialist event, 50m backstroke. In the heat Dan was just one hundredth off his best to make the final where he went on to finish 6th (same position as last year but in a faster time).

Huge congratulations to both Elle and Dan from all at the club.

Wycombe End of Season Meet

20th July 2019

Whilst we may have had a small group of 21 swimmers competing at Wycombe across everything from 50m up to the gruelling 400m IM the team spirit and encouragement was excellent, with several swimmers tackling events at long course for the first time. This atmosphere and the positive attitude led to a very successful weekend performance-wise with 66 personal bests. There were lots of medals too, 46 in total (10 golds, 8 silver and 28 bronze).

Many thanks to Mark, Ellen and Deryn for supporting the team.

All the results are on the results page.

Many thanks to Ellen, Chris, Heather, Elise, Emily and Max for managing the team poolside. Results are on the results page.

The final round is on 14 September - let's hope that we have a few more swimmers available on that evening.

Tom Williams Trophy Gala

30th June 2019

There is nothing better than a swimming gala on the hottest day of the year, thankfully the gala was fun and the racing exciting. There were some different events which were interesting including a 4 x 25m medley relay with one swimmer from each age group. There was also a joker round which scored double points - we put ours on Oli Kenton and he didn't let us down!

On the night our small team did really well to finish 4th with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th teams only a few points different and trading places throughout the night. Well done to Crusaders on their victory.

Special mention to our two young superstars Chenai and James who were our only 10 and under swimmers (age @ end of year) and competed in 3 individuals and 3 relays each. I am sure they slept well!

Thanks to Mark, Ellen and Vicki for their help poolside and to Jo and Bernie for officiating - with Bernie refereeing for the first time!

Full results will be published shortly.

Once again the club was well represented in the boys skins with Ollie Clegg finishing 2nd in the 13/u age group, Joe finishing 2nd in the open age group with Oli Kenton 3rd.

Many thanks to Ellen and Mark for their help poolside and to all of the officials and volunteers for running the event.

Special mention also to Dave Wood who made his competitive swimming debut at the ripe old age of ?? (Alana x 4), proving you are never too old to do something special.

Another 12 hours of the same tomorrow - good job the weather is not hot and sunny!!
