County Championships 2019 - Day Six

16th February 2019

The penultimate day of the championships continued in the same vein as the previous 5 days with all of our swimmers stepping up when it mattered. Once again over 50% of the swims were personal best times and we made 13 more finals.

One more day to go and but lots more opportunities to leave a club legacy.

County Championships 2019 - Day Five

10th February 2019

Day 5 of the County Championships certainly met all expectations when it came to creating special moments. Lots of great swims across all age groups with again nearly half of the swims being personal best times. 11 finals this time with Charlotte (5th) kicking off in the 100 free and breaking the magic 60 seconds for the first time in the heat and final. A project that has lasted over three years and a fine example of where belief, persistance and hard work can eventually pay off.

Charles Raines (4th) Ollie Clegg (6th), Harry (6th) Josh (7th), Joe (7th) and Dan (bronze) in the 100 backstroke. Millie (bronze) in a superb club record, Charlotte (7th) and Libby (5th) in the 50 backstroke. Dan (5th) in the 50 breastsroke.

In the 200's Zac set a personal best in the fly to finish 4th and Millie took several seconds off her PB to finish 8th.

In the relays, all of our teams went faster than their entry time with our girl's A team (Libby, Millie, Lilly and Charlotte) finishing 5th in the freestyle relay and our boy's A team (Dan, Joe, Tom Moslin and Oli Kenton) making club history by finishing with bronze in a new club record in the medley relay. Great to see so many of our swimmers poolside putting away their phones, cheering on their team mates and being part of the moment.

Full results are on the results page. Same again next weekend please.

Last night we held our annual awards evening and once again the numbers attending were up on last year in what was an opportunity to celebrate successes in and out of the pool.

With so many deserving swimmers to now choose from selecting team captains gets tougher each year. The Team Captains for 2019 are Emily Sampson, Becky Lee, Josh Childs and Tom Moslin and the Club Captain is Libby Blissett.

Many thanks to our departing captains; Mya, Sian, Dan and Bailey who have joined a select and special band of individuals as former captains.
