County Championships 2019

13th August 2018

The County have confirmed the details (schedule/qualifying times etc) for the 2019 Championships. Details on the County website can be found here.

There have been a number of changes made to the 2018 qualifying times with the open age group (17&O) now differentiated (and faster) than the 16 age group. In addition the considered times for all events (except 200m) and all age groups are faster.

There are now 1500m freestyle events for girls and 800m events for boys. The 100 IM event has been scrapped because the "Swimming Pathway" (used to define licensing criteria) states that any 100m events must have a final for each age group - which cannot be accommodated in the schedule. There are also no longer 400 IM events for 10/11 year old age groups.

The new County times have been uploaded to the website (summarised here) which means the swimmer's times on our website now give an indication whether any times set after 10 April 2018 in a licensed meet are accepted or considered times. We currently have over 30 swimmers with either an accepted or considered time.

When we get back after the summer we will enter the busiest period for swimmers looking to achieve a county qualification standard. You can use the BBATT meet (entries are still open), Maxwell Open meets, Distance Time Trials and our Club Championships to set qualifying times.

Any questions - please email me. Andy

Additional Summer Training Changes

4th August 2018

We have had a notification from the Grammar School that the maintenance needed at the pool is going to take far longer than originally expected and this unfortunately means that the pool is out of action for much of August. The training change schedule has been updated to reflect this and we will keep an eye on progress throughout the month.

English Summer Nationals

4th August 2018

Well the 2017/2018 season finally came to an end with 4 of our swimmers competing in the English Summer Nationals in Sheffield.

First came the 50 backstroke where we had three qualifiers. Ted kicked off the procedings with a seasons best time to finish 13th in the 16 year age group. Joe also set a seasons best to finish as the first reserve for the final (and would of took a final spot if the Danish swimmers were not competing!). Dan set a lifetime best to qualify for his first ever National final where he went on to finish 8th (6th if you discount the Danes).

Next came the girl's 50 breaststroke with Izzy who also swam a superb lifetime best to finish in 11th overall in the 15 age group again in the agonising first reserve for final spot.

In the first season that the club has produced multiple English National qualifiers it was great to see all of our swimmers taking their opportunity and performing at their best. They are setting the standards that I am confident many other of our swimmers can emulate in the next few years. Well done to all of you.

Well done to all our swimmers who braved the heat at the Aqua Vale to compete in the second round of the Milton Keynes Junior League. Once again we had a number of swimmers who couldn't take part or fell ill in the days leading up to the gala. There were also a couple of boys who swam despite a few injuries. We came 5th on the night behind a strong team from Rushmoor.

Huge thanks to Ellen for managing the team on the night supported by Chris, Anna and Emily as well of our team of officials who endured the conditions to ensure the gala went ahead.

Results are on the results page.

London Arena League - Promotion to Division 1

3rd July 2018

Well after just missing out in our first two seasons of the league we found out this week that we did get promoted to division one as one of the other teams in that division has withdrawn from the league.

So that means we will be up against the likes of...Harrow, Watford A, Luton, Hemel, Haringey, Greenwich, Lewisham and Dunmow Atlantis and there will also be some new venues.

Our campaign kicks off on 13 October at the Luton 50m pool (hopefully set up for 25m events)! We are in lane 6 and we are up against some tough teams. Brompton (9th last year), Harrow (6th), Dunmow (3rd), Anaconda (4th), Hemel (13th), Potters Bar (11th) and Haringey (12th). Round 2 will be on 10 November and round 3 on 8 December. Keep those dates free!

Day two of the Maxwell meet continued in the same vein as day one. 44 medals, scores of PBs (making it 150 in total) and another 5 club records (Joe x 2, Lilly, Oli and Libby). We had some impressive swims across all age groups and a number of swimmers competed in several swims over the whole weekend. It was also great to see our seniors take gold and silver in the open mixed relay and silver in the 13&U relay.

Well done to all our swimmers who, as always, behaved impeccably. Many thanks to Mark, Ellen and Vicki for all their help on a tropical poolside and to all of the officials and volunteers who gave up their time to support the meet.

Home Trophy Gala - retained

16th June 2018

What another great night of racing with us and Wycombe neck and neck throughout the night and our blue team grabbed the win by 4 points. It was also great to see team yellow finishing 5th in what was the first time we have been able to field a full two teams.

There were 40 PBs on the night plus an amazing 5 club records from Dan (50 back), Joe (100 breast), 16&U 50 freestyle relay of Josh, Max, Bailey and Zac, Open freestyle relay of Jacob, Tom, Joe and Dan and Open medley relay of Dan, Joe, Tom and Jacob in a time that would have taken Silver at the Counties!

British National Masters LC Championships

10th June 2018

Well done to our "magnificent seven" masters competing in the British National Masters in Plymouth. A brief report on how they got on plus a picture of them all looking very smart in their team colours can be viewed here

It's Volunteers Week - time to step up?

3rd June 2018

This week is National Volunteers Week, so a big thank you goes out to all of our amazing team of volunteers. Whether it's coaching, team managing, working as a committee member or helping to run our galas, the club couldn't exist without you. THANK YOU!

So, for those that would like to get involved now is the time! We are looking for people to join our team of Technical Officials. Without this team, there would be no galas! We have Club Championships later in the year and need a minimum number of trained officials to meet the terms of our license.

The first stage of training is to qualify as a timekeeper and then work your way through the levels of Judging as far as you are comfortable to go. We are lucky enough to have enough referees in our club to be able to carry out all of the training 'in house' so the short courses and poolside training can all take place locally.

If you are interested in joining us (and look good in white Wink) then please click here to submit your details in the first instance. Once we know who is interested we will then arrange a date for the first course.

Thank you in advance!

MKJL Round 1

2nd June 2018

Well done to our young team of swimmers who competed in the Milton Keynes Junior League at the Aqua Vale. The half term holidays gave a number of swimmers the opportunity to compete for the club for the first time in a league gala; Imogen White, Alana Sakala, Chenai Mofolo, Jack Devlin, Louis Zientek, Cyrus Khamnian, Nathaniel Thomey and Ted Devlin. All did themselves proud and looked like they enjoyed the experience. A big well done too to Ella Stewart who stepped in at the 11th hour and competed in 6 events and James Burnham who was in 7 events.

We came 5th on the night behind Brompton, Leighton Buzzard, Newport Pagnell and Chesham. Overall there were over 20 PBs and 3 first places. All the results are on the results page.

Many thanks to Ellen, Anna, Libby, Mya, Dan, Bailey and Elise for their help with the team and to all our officials who ensured, despite the tropical conditions, the gala went ahead and ran so smoothly.

14&U SE Regionals 2018 - Weekend Two

27th May 2018

In the final weekend of the Regionals at Crawley Millie, in her first Championships, set a club record on her way to 9th place in the 50 backstroke.

Oli, in his third and final event, 100m backstroke, took a second of his best time to climb the rankings.

Georgina, in her first Championships, was on PB to climb the rankings in the 50 fly.

Finally, Jessica in the last event of the competition, 400 IM, set a long course personal best by over two seconds to finish 12th overall.

Well done to all our young swimmers for flying the flag for Aylesbury in what is always a great learning experience and one that they can hopefully draw from when working towards the senior championships in the future.

Leighton Buzzard Open Meet

14th May 2018

Well done to all the 40 swimmers who took part in the Leighton Buzzard Open Meet at Bletchley on Sunday. 97 personal bests and 43 medals (13 gold, 16 silver, 14 bronze) as always from this meet and it was great to hear that all our swimmers behaved impeccably as always.

Many thanks to Heather, Ellen, Kerry and Chris and all of the senior swimmers who helped manage and support the team poolside. Full results are now on the results page.

14&U SE Regionals 2018 - Weekend 1

13th May 2018

The 14&U SE Regionals at Crawley kicked off with Oli on PB in the 50 back, the first time he had qualified for this event. Jessica set a personal best in the 50 breaststroke, breaking 40 seconds for the first time. Oli, in his second of three events, was again on PB in his 50 fly.

Well done to both swimmers, where simply getting there is a massive achievement and a great experience in preperation for the senior regionals in the years to come.

We return again in two weeks time for the final weekend.

15&O SE Regionals 2018 - Day 3

7th May 2018

The final day at Wycombe during the hottest early May bank holiday on record, apparently, saw some equally scorching swimming in the pool from our swimmers.

In the boy's 50 back, Josh improved his personal best by over a second to maintain his ranking, Ted had a solid swim in the heats to make the final where he improved his time again to finish 6th overall, Joe and Dan were within hundredths of each other in the heat to both make the final where Dan dipped under 28 for the first time to finish 6th and Joe was spot on a 28 to finish 8th in a new club record. It was amazing to see Ayesbury with the highest number of swimmers in the senior final.

In the girl's 50 breast, Izzy had another great swim to make reserve for the final in a really tough age group. Libby maintained a 100% PB count to also make reserve for the final. Not to be out done, Sian broke 35 seconds for the first time to also make reserve in a new club record. Libby also PB'd again in the 100 fly to take another reserve position for the final.

In the final event of the day Charlotte took two seconds off her best time to make the final of the 200IM where she finished 8th. Libby dipped under her best time to also make the final where she went on to improve it again and take a fantastic fourth place.

Huge congratulations to all our swimmers for some really special moments and for representing the club so honourably. Many thanks to all the officials from across the South East for giving up their time to make the event happen, in particular our very own Gary and Tina.

15&O SE Regionals 2018 - Day 2

6th May 2018

The second day at the Regionals began with the girls 4 x 100 medley relay. Libby kicked off with a long course PB, followed by Izzy, Mya and Emily C to win their heat and climb 8 places in the rankings. The senior girls then followed with the aim of going faster. Lilly set a long course PB, followed by Charlotte, Sian, with a monster fly leg and Grace, in her maiden Regional venture, to better their team mates time by 5 seconds and finish 9th overall.

It was great to see Emily B racing again for her Surrey University team, following a serious back injury for. She helped them to a position at the Nationals in the 200 Free relay and swam a solid leg in the 4 x 100 free to give them another opportunity. She also set a creditable time in her 50 free individual.

In the 50 fly, Zac set the pace with a personal best to improve on his ranking and Ted was only a tenth of a second off his best time to maintain his ranked position.

In the 200 breaststroke, Izzy was a fraction outside her best time, despite a wardrobe malfunction 10 minutes before her race. Charlotte set a personal best to make reserve for the final. Libby took two seconds off her best tme to make her second final where she finished 7th in her age group.

One more day to go - can we make it three days of consecutive finals?

15&O SE Regionals 2018 - Day 1

5th May 2018

Well done to all our swimmers competing in the 15 & over SE regionals today.

Libby swam a long course PB in both the 50 fly and 50 back to finish as a reserve for the final in both events and PB'd again in the 100 breast where she made her first Regional final, finishing 8th. Mya also put in a solid performance to make the final in the 200 fly where she finished 7th. Ted Gundry, representing the club for the first time also finished reserve for the final in the 100 back. Charlotte and Izzy both set best times in their events, the 50 back and 100 breast, with Izzy dipping under 1.19 for the first time. Joe and Dan were just outside their long course PBs in the 100 back to finish 19th and 13th respectively and Sian was just off her best in the 50 back.

Lots more swimming tomorrow and hopefully another opportunity to experiece all the warm-ups, heats, finals and medal ceremonies that a day at the Regionals has to offer - many thanks Libby and Mya!!!
